After testing positive for the BRCA gene. This 34-year-old female underwent nipple-sparing, prophylactic mastectomies with immediate tissue expanders reconstruction. Following completing of the expansions, she then underwent a DIEP flap reconstruction surgery. The expanders were removed and breasts were created with tissue from her abdomen. In other words, breasts are made from skin/fat we normally discard during a tummy tuck, instead of implants.
